The Bose QC35 II headphones are under £200 at Argos

In 2018 I took out a £35-per-month phone contract. I did this partly for the handset, but mainly because of the freebie: a pair of Bose QC35 II headphones. As somebody who would never pay over £50 for such things, getting an exceptional pair free of charge felt too good to turn down. Having used them for 20 months I can safely say that if they were stolen today, I’d be replacing them tomorrow. They’re just wonderful to use, and the noise-cancellation technology makes the Tube far more tolerable than it usually is. That’s why I suggest you head to Argos right now, which is clearing out the superb cans on the cheap. Well, cheaper anyway. You can get the QC35 II in a snazzy midnight blue colour for £199.99 , or a, uh, ‘vibrant’ rose gold for £203.99 . The headphones sold for £330 at launch and have stubbornly kept around that level, rarely dipping further than then £250 price point from high street retailers. And they really are superb, to my ears. Sound is crisp and balanced, while the noise cancellation is simply top notch. They’re comfortable too – I’ve never had a set of headphones that I can wear for hours on end without complaint before, but these match that brief. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the “QC” in the name stands for “Quiet Comfort”. “The Bose QuietComfort 35 II are, like the headphones that preceded them, simply brilliant personal audio companions,” Jon wrote in his review. “While they may not be able to match rivals for sound quality and looks, in terms of all-round practicality and comfort they're second to none. “And, as for noise-cancelling, there's still nothing else that gets close. If you can afford a pair and you travel a lot, the Bose QuietComfort 35 II are the headphones to beat and they win a well-deserved Best Buy award.” Suffice it to say that with £130 off the original price they’re an absolute steal.
