JUST DANCE 2016’S ORIGINAL SONG “CHIWAWA” IS…WEIRD.

That’s right, dancers: Ubisoft wrote an original song for Just Dance 2016. And it is…well, I’ll let you make up your own mind.

  Check out the official description:

“Chiwawa is the surprising story of a girl who mistakenly steps on her pet Chihuahua. Its in-game adaptation is an energetic and silly choreography combined with cute and crazy visual elements linked to the kawaii culture. From flashy colours and flat cats on photocopiers, to ridiculous jumping hot dogs, chiwawa offers a unique and unforgettable experience for Just Dance players.”

A girl stepping on a dog. A cat on a photocopier. Jumping hot dogs.

  Yep. Sounds like Just Dance.

If you’re not sure what “kawaii culture” is, it refers to the “cute” aesthetic popular in Japanese pop music (AKA “J-pop“).

“Chiwawa” is the creation of Japanese singer Reni Mimura and soundtrack composer Tom Salta. Salta has composed music for games from many popular franchises, including Tom Clancy, Prince of Persia, and Halo.

“I don’t think I ever laughed so much while working on a song,” said Salta, describing his experience.

“Chiwawa” even has its own music video. Watch it below, if you’re brave.
